WHAT IS THE MELT METHOD®

The MELT Method® (MELT) is a simple self-care treatment designed to help you stay healthy, pain-free and active for a lifetime. Created by Sue Hitzmann, a NYC manual therapist and connective tissue specialist, MELT employs the use of a custom soft body roller, set of small rubber balls and a resistance band for the goals of fascial tissue remodeling, pain relief, and performance improvement. These specialized tools are utilized in a way that is non-traumatizing, with light-touch techniques to help regulate your nervous system, improve heart rate variability (HRV), and fine-tune motor control.

MELT is a neurofascial system, designed to reconnect whole-body communication, rebalance the nervous system, rehydrate the connective tissue, and release compression in joints so that you can be more pro-active about managing your stress, staying out of pain, while improving stability and core-activation.

WHY TRY MELT®?

If you have a body, you have stuck stress living in your connective tissues. Our culture of sitting (at desks, in cars, on the couch) creates dehydration and compression to our low back and neck, not to mention poor posture which throws the rest of our internal systems out of whack. Even just 10 minutes of MELT three times a week will help reduce the effects of accumulated tension and stress caused by daily living. Simple and easy, when done consistently (not unlike daily teeth brushing keeps your teeth healthy), it keeps your body’s systems running more smoothly. This full-body method of self-care is accessible to anyone, anywhere, and can be customized to your particular needs – from improving performance and decreasing the risk of repetitive stress injuries to eliminating chronic pain, regardless of what’s causing your pain in the first place.

I’ve had work-related forearm pain on and off for years now, and have tried massages, acupuncture, and other treatments with not much success.  After telling emiko about my pain she showed me a quick forearm MELT method, and my pain immediately diminished.
I’d call it a miracle, but no... it’s just MELT!

CARING FOR YOUR MELT PROPS

MELT balls (rubber-based) - sanitize using mild liquid dish washing soap, such as Meyers or Bronner’s. Wash in hot, soapy water. Or wipe with rubbing alcohol and clean cloth. Air dry when using a spray or mist disinfectant.

MELT rollers (rubber based) - sanitize with disinfectant wipes or non-toxic yoga mat sprays. Air-dry when using a spray disinfectant.

Resistance bands - as most cleaning solutions can deteriorate the material, use rubbing alcohol in a mist spray bottle, then allow them to air dry over a bar. Bands can be washed in soapy water, but this can make them sticky. Cornstarch can be used to make them less sticky.
